Community members, law enforcement professionals, family, friends, and supporters will gather for the first annual Rodriguez’s Aztec Run on Sunday, June 14, from 8 a.m. to noon at Como Park, 1199 Midway Parkway.
The event honors the life and legacy of Metro Transit Police Lt. Beverly “Bev” Rodriguez, who passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2025. Lt. Rodriguez was widely known for her compassion, leadership, and service to the community, including her work with Metro Transit’s Homeless Action Team, where she helped connect people experiencing homelessness with support, services, and housing pathways.
Rodriguez was also a longtime member of the National Latino Peace Officers Association, Minnesota Chapter, and served on the national board as Northern Region Vice President. She was deeply committed to physical fitness, mentoring young law enforcement students, and helping women overcome barriers in their personal and professional lives.
The Rodriguez’s Aztec Run is being created as an annual event to continue her legacy. Funds raised will support a scholarship fund for female officers from diverse backgrounds who face barriers to continuing their higher education and advancing into leadership roles.
The event is being sponosred by Morningstar Coffee and Availing Echoism.
