Christians 'reclaim Christianity for justice and compassion'

Palm Sunday march, rally at Minnesota State Capitol

On Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026, marchers gathered in Rondo’s Central Village Park, and began what became a mile long procession along University Avenue from Dale Street to the State Capitol.

The procession was led by Black clergy from churches across the Twin Cities, representatives of the Black Church Power organization in partnership with Isaiah Minnesota. The purpose of the protest was to reclaim Christianity for justice and compassion, according to organizers.

The Palm Sunday event was a spiritual counterpart to the massive "No Kings" rally held the day before. An estimated 10,000+ Christians (and friends) from around the state filled the Capitol Mall on Sunday for the two-hour long service of scripture, praise, song, and hope.

As the Palm Sunday Service neared its end, a group of kids were led into position on the capitol stairs. They lifted up a canvas banner on which they had painted, “Love never fails”, from 1 Corinthians 13:8, and decorated with their hand prints.
