Political platform statement

Why I am running for this office: I am running for re-election because I have four children in Saint Paul Public Schools. From my children's perspective, Saint Paul Public Schools is more than a place of learning. It's their first community. It's a place where they make friends. It's a place for them to feel safe and trusted by the adults who support them. When my children experience success in Saint Paul Public Schools, it is a reflection of the success that Saint Paul Public Schools can deliver. I want to help grow that success so that all students can experience their own unique success story. Since last November 2020, I’ve been adapting to the learning curves in my role in school governance. As you can see, I have taken to it with vigor and commitment. Earning the confidence of board members and being appointed Vice-Chair speaks volumes. I have only begun to lay the foundation for the work that lies ahead. Heading into re-election, my focus is to cultivate the leadership of student and parent leaders in SPPS, find opportunities for stakeholders to impact district governance and grow programs that are proven to reflect the needs of our students. I lead as a Hmong father representing you in district governance. My children are my compass and parent leadership is my framework.
