Dale St. work paused
Ramsey County’s Dale Street reconstruction project in Saint Paul
All I-94 entrance and exit ramps at Dale St. and Interstate 94 opened to traffic on Nov. 19 at the conclusion of the 2020 construction season. reopen to traffic. Anthony and Concordia avenues returned to being one-way streets, and the intersections reopened to east-west traffic. All pedestrian facilities reopened.
Construction on the 2020 phases of the project began in mid-March. This year’s work included rebuilding and widening the bridge over I-94 – including widening the sidewalks to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists – and reconfiguring lanes to accommodate traffic volumes and allow for better traffic flow.
The new Dale Street bridge and its 16-foot wide pedestrian sidewalks feature public art designed by local and emerging artists that is reflective of the Rondo community, its history and cultural significance. The board of commissioners voted to formally support the art and aesthetics earlier this year. The project was significantly influenced by an extensive multi-year community engagement process.
Work will resume in summer 2021 to finish the final phase of Dale Street reconstruction between Iglehart and Concordia avenues. Visit ramseycounty.us/DaleBridge for more information about the project and to subscribe to email and text alerts.
